Sugar Sugar We are on our Sugar Detox Retreat right now. One of our most powerful health retreats for women. It is estimated that we are consuming about 140g or 28tsps of sugars daily!! That might seem like a lot .. and it is … but it is so easily done. Today is World Diabetes Day Diabetes, especially type 2, is more common in males rather than females. However, females often have more serious complications and a greater risk of death! During menopause, several changes occur and some of these changes can affect your risk of diabetes International Diabetes Federation (IDF) reveals that 77% of people living with diabetes have experienced anxiety, depression, or another mental health condition because of their diabetes. Diabetes care often focuses only on blood sugar, leaving many overwhelmed If you are a woman living with Diabetes here are our tips to help you take back control and feel you can enjoy a sense of heath and wellbeing again. 1. Get informed. Not only about your condition, but also about how you can improve your overall health and wellbeing. I can’t rate @drchris_drxand Ultra Processed People enough. Everyone should read this important book, but if you have Diabetes (1 or 2) this is a must read. 2. Ask Questions. Women are often our own worst enemies when it comes to asking questions about our health.. we don’t want to be a burden. If you haven’t already sit down with your GP and ask questions about how your condition can best be managed. 3. Include your Friends and Family. You don’t have to face diabetes alone. Talk to your friends and family, let them know how you are feeling and how they can support you. Also ask them how they feel about your condition. Taking, even when difficult always helps. 4. Connect to your Community. Become a member of @diabetesuk for just a few pounds they have a wealth of resources and community that can be so helpful. 5. Move Your Body Daily. Research repeatedly shows that one of the very best ways to manage blood sugar levels is moving your body, especially a brisk walk between 29/30 mins daily. This will also help to lift anxiety and low mood. A win win 6. Prioritise Sleep. You will find it easier to control your blood sugar when you have enjoyed a good nights rest. Diabetes can impact the quality of your sleep so don’t leave it to chance … make a conscious change to your sleep hygiene habits and start to build the healthy habit of sleep.
