As you know Bella #Retreatdog is the star team member on any retreat and just like the rest of us she makes very considered choices over what she eats… of course like all the other retreat members she is partial to a wee treat now and again. So what do you give your pampered pooch when you don’t want to give a treat that is stuffed with additives and chemicals…..
You make your own. Here are the original Bella Biscuits. So super simple, in-fact for me all the ingredients where in my store cupboard/freezer already.
Bella eats a grain free diet and so here I’ve used grain free flours, if you want to change the flour be sure to check that it is suitable for your pooch.
Makes 28 Biscuits
2 tablespoons Nut Butter ( we used Meridian Crunchy Peanut)
2 medium organic eggs
150ml Bone Broth
2 tbsp ground flaxseed
1 cup coconut flour
1/2 cup Buckwheat Flour
Mix the nut butter with the eggs until smooth and then add the bone broth, mix until well combined. Then add the dry ingredients and mix tother until it starts to form a ball. you may want to use you hands to really bring all the mix together into a soft pliable dough.
Next rollout your dough on a flour work surface and using a cookie cutter cut your biscuits and place on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment to stop them sticking.
Cook in the over for about 20 mins until just starting to turn golden brown. Then turn the oven off and leave the biscuits in the oven to cool and go hard. Once cool you can store these in an air tight container for a couple of weeks.
Remember these are a treat… so don’t be over generous when treating your pooch as the nutrient dense ingredients could give a loose tummy in too high amount if your doggie is not used to them.
